Evan Bishop

Umass Amherst on April 9, 2009 at 9:01 pm

Evan BishopEvan Bishop is a nerd that lives in my suite.

To his dismay many other people show up when he types his name into search engines. This one Evan Bishop in particular has the rankings all tied up with TWO sites listed, see here and here.

That's a bit greedy.

The real Evan Bishop will not stand for this. A mustachioed E.B. must rank for this name.

Can I See Your Parking Permit?

Umass Amherst on April 7, 2009 at 4:11 am

I thought I was having a bad day. Things started to look up when the ticket on my car was just a warning, but then things looked really good in comparison to this auto enthusiast.

Why.

The lot was no where near full.

Dirt parking lots are for professionals only.

Deceptive Video

Italy, The Interwebs on March 29, 2009 at 12:59 am

Warning: This video will lead you to believe that people who live in Rome don't suck. Don't be fooled, they still do.

"A girl misses her train to Milan and is set to wait overnight in Rome until dawn. However, a chance encounter with a guy changes her plans and the night lights of the capital turn into the background to a tender love story. An extraordinary chemistry made of knowing glances and small gestures fills the few instants that separate them both from the sunrise."

Sidewalk Closed

Umass Amherst on March 25, 2009 at 1:35 pm

I thought this was odd, they were doing some sort of work on a 200 yard stretch of sidewalk near Sylvan. I guess they needed a cop detail to make sure none of the rowdy college kids did something crazy.

I can't imagine how often they get to use that sign, but it or just the barrier would have been enough.

The cop was out of this shot, I guess he stepped behind the truck for a second, so I have added a lifelike representation of him for reference.

Studies Show

Watch out the college kids are attempting science.

Coming back from the mail room this poster catches my eye.
By this poster I mean the one directly above the call button, obviously.

Don Feder at Umass

Umass Amherst on March 12, 2009 at 3:43 pm

I've started going to guest lectures here at school, but the one I was at last night was ridiculous.

Don Feder came to talk about hate crime laws and censorship, but a relatively small part of the audience couldn't wait until the Q&A to take issue with whatever he said. So instead they acted like small children creating an astonishing show of pettiness and frivolity.

They laughed and hissed through what little speech there was and a couple people stood up to shout names of those who were victims of hate crimes. Then turned around their chairs and faced the other way.

The only thing he was able to talk about was the definition of a hate crime and boring statistics.

Shits weak.

Antelope Sun

Umass Amherst on February 10, 2009 at 1:22 am

This little gem I took in class with my phone because I thought it was pretty decent. It has the obligatory Obama '08 vandalism which can be seen all over campus. Not sure why kids thought it was a good idea to support a political candidate with spray paint and sidewalks. I sat at this desk twice so far and the first time it did not have any writing on it. So someone felt the need to write Obama '08, in '09.

I don't listen to music on my walk to and between classes so I end up catching the saddest conversation between human beings. I can't tune crap like this out no matter how hard I try.

Europe's Travel Journal

Journals on January 23, 2009 at 3:32 am

Have I told you I have a scanner? I thought so.

Here is the scan(12mb) of the notebook I kept in Europe.

My handwriting in this one is pretty poor. I used it a lot at the start of my trip because I did not have internet and I had time to kill. Then once I had access to this site again I wrote a lot less because I was writing about it on this site. So it's pretty much a detailed version of my first 3 days and then the rest is just when I was bored.

Fuck

The Interwebs on January 16, 2009 at 2:40 am

fuThe internets are killing me right now. I'm not even heavily involved in any financial dealings at the moment, but after, I think I'm up to, 6 years everything is going to hell.

My password was seriously compromised and I had my domain inflation.us stolen from me. Then the guy that stole it manages to sell it for $2500. The only news I have so far from GoDaddy about getting it back is, "We are waiting for a response from Register.com" Leaving my only option, very shortly, to steal it back.

China's Travel Journal

China, Journals on January 14, 2009 at 5:22 pm

I'm a big fan of my scanner so I was flipping through the notebook I wrote in while in China for a little excerpt to scan, but I ended up scanning the whole damn thing.

If you are brave and think you can read my handwriting…
Here it is pdf file. (16mb)

And because I fell down and hit my head, I wrote below by page what the notebook has. I tried to keep the same capitalization and form. It kind of makes it hard to read, but I just did it that way.

Warning: The following is probably only interesting to me. It is not dated and is more a stream of consciousness. I don't really talk in much detail or at length, but to me it makes sense and evokes images and faces and places.
