Fuck

The Interwebs on January 16, 2009 at 2:40 am

fuThe internets are killing me right now. I'm not even heavily involved in any financial dealings at the moment, but after, I think I'm up to, 6 years everything is going to hell.

My password was seriously compromised and I had my domain inflation.us stolen from me. Then the guy that stole it manages to sell it for $2500. The only news I have so far from GoDaddy about getting it back is, "We are waiting for a response from Register.com" Leaving my only option, very shortly, to steal it back.

I even find him, him being some asshat in the South Pacific, using an old forum account of mine to shill bid.

I changed passwords on all accounts I could think of and I'm feeling pretty safe again. Just minding my own biz you might say.

Now a month later I go to login to paypal and my password doesn't work. So I do a password reset, change the password, etc. There's a $3,500 payment pending to someone in the Phillipines.

I caught it pretty much within the hour it was initiated and reversed it. But there wasn't even $3,500 in my paypal. When you have insufficient funds paypal goes to your backup, which is a bank account of mine. Foreseeing bullshit like this, I have an account used only for paypal that I only pass money through to "upload" and keep almost nothing in. So I'm about to have a $3,500 overdraft because paypal still wants to "upload" that cash and like all good financial institutions their support is not 24/7.

The "plan" is to clam up, like a clam.

Once paypal is resolved close account which sucks because it takes time to get verified to the point I am and I use my debit card a lot. Close the bank account connected to paypal. Spend like 2 hours just going to sites that I think I might have signed up on, but I no longer use and changing passwords to gibberish or deleting accounts if option is available.

Then maybe some credit checks of sorts to make sure no ones dicking around. They are more using my online identity than stealing my real identity, but who knows.

I was infected with a trojan today as well, but I took care of it pretty quick. I'm not sure if this paypal business is related to the trojan or the inflation.us guy, but since my laptop is pretty new I'm just going to load a fresh OS.

After I finished writing this I split my Fresca and the rage was renewed with vigor.
